Alex Hall is a lens-based Chinese Canadian artist based in Toronto, Canada. She specializes in analog photography and alternative processes. She holds a BFA in photography and a minor in English literature from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD U).

Through the parallel stories of two Chinatowns, her series Disconnected Connections is an exploration of immigration, displacement, and the ties of her family history with her mixed heritage. The small mining town of Barkerville, British Columbia is home to the second oldest Chinatown in Canada. In the 1840’s the people there immigrated from the Guangdong Province. In the 20th century, her grandparents immigrated from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province to Toronto.
