Take in the views of the city's best artists, showcasing a stunning array of artworks for you to enjoy and buy!
Our awesome partner and collaborator, the award Winning Toronto brewery,
Henderson Brewing Co. will bring you yet another creative craft beer exclusive to Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition from a collaboration between an emerging brewer, James Turoo, and our Best of Student award winner, Kaley Flowers.
Below is the story behind the
Radicle series :
Every artist is a story teller. The art that they make is meant to stir something, communicate something, like a magical adjective that can add colour and context in a way that brings a story to life the way they want it. A painting, a sculpture, a photograph, a beer. A beer? How does that fit in? At Henderson, we also try to tell stories through our beer. That is why we partnered with the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. Not only are we proud to be the official beer of the event and welcome artists and patrons alike into our beer garden, but we have also brewed a special beer for the event.
Each month we use a Toronto story as motivation for a special beer - our Ides series - and for July we are telling the story of Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. What inspires us most about the event is the young artists who bring a fresh look to their work. To bring this to life, we work with a young brewer and a young artist to create a Radicle Pale Ale. The radicle is the first part of a
seedling (a growing plant embryo) to emerge from the seed during the process of germination. The label is created by the previous years emerging artist winner - Last year it was Nicole Moss, this year it will be Kaley Flowers. The label features a unique piece of art made for the beer to capture the spirit of Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition.
Says Kayley: “These two are looking a bit flushed! One is feeling a very good vibe - the other, in unknowing bliss, may have broken their phone. These figurines were made in homage to some of the unusual and eccentric characters I’ve encountered during after-dark escapades, and inspired by the spectrum of emotions and strange circumstances that sometimes occur during a night of overindulgence!”
We hope you’ll agree that this
Radicle Pale Ale is a work of art in its own right, and we thank our own emerging artist James Turco for this thoughtful and tasty composition. Dry and easy-drinking with citrus, pine and floral notes - this is our salute to the great west coast style pale ale.
